Discovering Armenian Street

Sunday, discovering little Armenian Street with my sis. Not for just suka-suki, but with some purpose, of course. And if u all remember, I once promised to discover few places here in Georgetown. So to prove that we're pure Penangites, harussss lah kena explore tempat ni kannn...

Armenian Street, tiny road, yang fit just for one car to pass-by..sekarang dah jadi laluan berbasikal juga.

Popular and now trending mural-painted wall

Sangat frust...and tiring menunggu untuk posing bersama 3D mural painting ini. Mereka sangat popular sekarang yaaa...huhu. Habis satu tour-group bergambar, mai pulak lagi satu tour group...sampai bila mau abes daaa. Sudahnya ambik pic mereka saja tanpa pic we ols. Lukisan mural ni terdapat di sebelah kanan jalan, Armenian Street, just after we enter the junction.

Amelie Cafe

I called it "jungle-in-the-middle-of-the-city". It's a cafe, claimed to be cozy and served delicious cuisine (non-halal), ala home-made and full with tourist. Sungguh comel~ the cafe lah. Takkan la I nak pi masuk makan kat kedai ni pulak....

14 Living Story

14 Living Story is actually some sort of classic and antique gift shop, macam-macam adaaaaa...and nampak unik jugak kedai ni.

Nyonya Beaded Shoes

Nyonya Beaded Shoes, sat not far from Cheah Kongsi & 14 Living Story...next door gitu.

We ols feeling-feeling tourist jugak kat sini, as we stroll along this street pun dengan tourist and a few groups of photographer. Lepas tu feeling-feeling macam terasing di bumi sendiri. Dia punya hustle-bustle is not because of cars...but cyclist. But..seronok lah that weird feeling.

Straits Heritage, Retail, Residence & Restaurant

And, seriously, we don't really know that Penang ada tempat macam ni. Similar to Malacca. *Melaka dah sampai..Penang tak jelajah habis...apa daa cik photographer! Straits Heritage...design yang sangat walla for me! Baba & Nyonya style..with gold-plated carving I guess. Awesome! It's actually a boutique hotel, and if I'm not mistaken, under the same management of Bon Ton Langkawi. They have a few chinese, baba nyonya style shophouse here and open for night-stay. Further information, click here.

Sun Yat Sen Museum or earlier known as his base. Tak masuk dalam pun. Tembak dari luaq sebab tengok banyak beskat dok parking. Tak mau bersesak kat dalam sebab we ols berdua dah bermandi peluh, sebab pelancong-pelancong ini tertinggai topi koboi dalam keta...hehe.

Dr. Sun Yat Sen Base & Seni Mutiara Art Gallery

Tapiiiiiiiiiii.....we ols sempat la jelajah sat Seni Mutiara Art Gallery kat sebelah dia yang kebetulan tengah exhibition Solo Watercolor Painting, "Penang, My Penang". Artist nya ialah Mr. Khoo Cheang Jin. All the hasil seni semuanya berkaitan Penang..really lovely. As usual, no photo lah..mana boleh kannnn. Yang tu kena pi tengok sendiri. Exhibition tu dibuka sampai month end nanti. Pi..jangan tak pi.

Syed Al-Attas Mansion

And here we are, the main purpose we ols kat sini is to do some research on this mansion. Specifically, for my English essay. But unfortunately, memang sedih sangat. It's a sorry state of affair. Pintu pagar berkunci, tanpa pengawasan, macam tak maintain saja. Sangat sedih. I've send my query to State Tourism facebook page, and now waiting for their response. If not, I really have to amend my essay. Sedey woooo....dah la frust tak boleh masuk dalam and tengok the islamic collection, tengok Syed Al-Attas Mansion ni dalam keadaan macam tu lagi lah sedih! Syed Mohamad Al-Attas ni achehnese, influential person jugak la sebab dia dulu a very wealthy spice merchant dan menggunakan rumah dia yang eclectic arabs and malays design ni as a place to gather for a meeting and kegiatan dakwah..gitoo la kot kan...tu yang nak buat research tu.

Harapnya depa reply a.s.a.p, if not...I as a Penangites, takkan duduk diam ya. I akan melanjutkan perkara ini okess.....tunggu saja. Because internet says different things about this place, so no good la kalau tourist nak pi, tapi keadaan dia macam lain kannnn.

The World Heritage office of Georgetown

Georgetown World Heritage Inc. (GTWHI) located at the Lebuh Acheh, end of Armenian Street. GTWHI ni la yang bagi consultation to those related macam owner, arkitek, developer untuk heritage core zone kat Georgetown ni. Depa conduct workshops, work with local council, town planner and educate people on the importance to conserve cultural heritage...gitoo la kesahnya. Sikit cukup.

Photographer of the day, berlatar belakang kan wall art di Armenian Street

Upacara penutup -- kena turunkan cop mohor yang berupa gambar photographer..sebagai bukti. Satgi ada yang kata pic google pulakkkk....

Panjang lebaq entry hari ni....harap tak bosan membaca. Kalau bosan, tengok gambaq cukup. Kalau tak mau tengok gambaq, klik pangkah sebelah kanan atas. Sekian, mekaceh.

P/s: Next time nak pi Masjid Lebuh Acheh pulak. Tembak lagi...

  5. Entah bilalah Penang nak keluar dari wajah kepenjajahan dari segi design bandar dan nama-nama jalan. 55 tahun merdeka nama-nama penjajah masih utuh...

    1. IM,

Sejarah tetap sejarah, tak boleh diubah. Armenian ni bukan penjajah, depa ni saudagar...sama macam orang Acheh, Siam, Arab, Burma..semua ada clan depa sendiri di Georgetown ni. Melayu pun ada lebuh melayu.
